Meet The Tandem Travelers
Ciao! We are Lisa and Dan – two behavior analysts that love to travel. Really, we just love being outdoors, but traveling gives us new people to meet and new lands to explore while we do this.
Here you will find some (hopefully) helpful resources for your travels, through blogs that cover traveling around our home state of California and anywhere we can manage to get ourselves. We are not frugal backpackers who are living out of one bag for years on end (though we do love to backpack) nor are we traveling luxuriously from one hotel to another and viewing every city from a hop-on hop-off bus.
You will find our adventures to be somewhere in between. We are smart about our spending and look for deals wherever possible, however we will throw down money for a rock-climbing adventure, sailing, or another experience we are unlikely to forget. We also like to get away from the cities and hike through the back country to escape the crowds of tourists, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find us wandering through a museum or taking a bike tour.
Basically, we are the average, not-so-average travelers and we want to share our planned, but not-so-planned trips with you.
Initially, The Tandem Traveler was born as we were planning our first international trip together. We wanted to learn some Italian so we could talk to locals, make our way around, and have a really authentic trip. But we couldn’t find anywhere that would teach us the Italian we needed for our travels. The only resources we could find were too time consuming or too expensive. We just wanted to to pick up a little bit of Italian before our trip, even if it was only 50-100 words. So we ended up taking the time to learn it ourselves and then compiled resources for the most useful words and phrases we learned. So on The Tandem Traveler, you will also find translation sheets and interactive flashcards to help you quickly pick up some basic Italian (and other languages, when we get to it).
Take a look around and contact us to say hello.
